Enabled Text-to-Speech Learning by Providing Headphones

In many classrooms at Marsh Junior High School, students have always quietly read and highlighted their text books. But in Mrs. Darr’s special education class, the learning environment was far more challenging. Due to their individual circumstances, Mrs. Darr’s students learn from audio text books, and instead of highlighting physical books, Mrs. Darr’s students use a “text to speech” function to highlight electronic books. Numerous students using audio books at once was simply a noisy, distracting, and stressful learning environment for everyone. Thanks to Solutions Funded, each of Mrs. Darr’s students now have their own personal headphones for listening to their audio text books and highlighting them with the text to speech functionality. Now, all of the classrooms at Marsh Junior High - including Mrs. Darr’s - are quiet while students read their text books.
